If your formal has just been postponed, please don’t worry, we handled this many times last year. Your dress booking will be moved to your new formal date, without any cost to you. 

In the event your dress is already booked for your new date, we’ll help you find an alternative dress, or provide store credit for your deposit amount. The store credit is valid for 3 years, can be transferred to a friend, or can be used on any other products for example, clutch hire. It is rare that we're unable to find you a replacement dress, and we had great success finding solutions last year.

If you have already collected your dress, your $100 security bond will be returned and your dress hire money will be credited, pending your new formal date.

As you can now travel up to 150km, we're seeing lots of new girls for formals in Sept, Oct and Nov. We're back to normal appointment hours:

Mon - Fri : 3-5pm

Sat - Sun: 10-5pm

Please book your Try On via our website, or message on Instagram. It is $100 to book your gown and you can change your date or your gown, if your formal is postponed.


UPDATED 27th April 2020..


We are re-opening from this Saturday 2nd May for Try On Appointments! In line with the QLD Government’s announcement yesterday, you can shop for non-essential items from this weekend. Provided you only travel 50km or less and you only bring 1 other person. We will still be following strict hygiene procedures. Remember, if you want to book your formal gown hire, it’s just $100 deposit and we will happily move bookings at no cost, if your formal is postponed due to Corona. 23rd March 2020....

With Government guidelines advising practicing social distancing of 1.5m between each person, The Formal Gallery has decided to temporarily suspended all Try On Appointments at our Gold Coast Boutique. We look forward to providing our premium level of personalised fitting service once it is safe to do so.

Clients can continue to browse and check availability of our gowns on our website, which is updated as soon as new formal dates come to hand. You can also message us to get fitting advice if you want to book online, instead of coming into the boutique.

We will monitor the situation daily and resume Try Ons based on Queensland Health advice.

My formal has been postponed – what happens with my deposit?

If you have already booked, your deposit is secured against your dress until your new formal date is given. We are moving bookings rapidly to the new dates, so far with great success of availability. Please get in touch as soon as you have your new date.

What if my gown is already booked for my new formal date?

If your gown is unavailable for your new date, we are working on a personalized basis to find you a new dress. We have added 15 new gowns to stock recently, with 10 more on the way to meet increased demand at the year-end. In the event we can’t find an alternative, a credit note (eGift Card) will be issued to the value of your deposit. 

If my event is completely cancelled, will you provide a refund?

In line with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission advice, when an event is cancelled due to a government decision, for example public health, we will offer a credit note (eGift Card) only.

eGift Cards

This can be used on any products on the website including dress hire, clutch hire, flower wall hire and undergarment solutions. You have 2 years to redeem the eGift Card and it is transferable; you can pass the credit to someone else.
